It was the 23rd edition of the Grand Prix de Tennis de Lyon, and was part of the ATP World Tour 250 Series of the 2009 ATP World Tour. It was held at the Palais des Sports de Gerland in Lyon, France, from 26 October through 1 November 2009. Tird-seeded Ivan Ljubičić won the singles title.

- Ljubičić wins his first title of the year and ninth of his career. It was his second win at the event, also winning in 2001.
