History

In 2023, Florida Palms University, a branch campus of Atlantis University, was closed.[1]

The closing was unexpected and left hundreds of student athletes without a team and without a college. Although never fully explained by the Florida Palms University to the students why the school closed, it became apparent Federal student funding was withheld because Florida Palms University and Atlantis University existed on the same campus and in the same building which violated Department of Education regulations. Atlantis University assumed responsibility for school records and refused to release transcripts to the students insisting the students reimburse Atlantis for funds originally promised by the college’s financial aid department from the Department of Education but denied by the DOE due to the above mentioned regulation violation. After the students went public with local media sources and complaints directly to the DOE and their individual members of Congress, Atlantis eventually settled the complaints to individual students and began releasing the transcripts during the summer of 2023.
