Bulciago (Brianzöö: Bilciàch) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Lecco in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 35 kilometres (22 mi) northeast of Milan and about 14 kilometres (9 mi) southwest of Lecco. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,811 and an area of 3.1 square kilometres (1.2 sq mi).[3]

Bulciago borders the following municipalities: Barzago, Cassago Brianza, Costa Masnaga, Cremella, Garbagnate Monastero, Nibionno.

History

Its name seems to derive from a Bubulcius, which means "land of Bubulcio", perhaps a Roman leader.[citation needed]

Gallic-Roman and Longobard tombs were found in Bulciago.[citation needed]

The Bulciago's citizen Eligio Panzeri took part in the Expedition of the Thousand.[citation needed]
