Political career

In parliament, Burkhardt is a member of the European Parliament Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety.

In addition to her committee assignments, Burkhardt is part of the Spinelli Group,[3] the European Parliament Intergroup on Anti-Racism and Diversity,[4] the European Parliament Intergroup on Traditional Minorities, National Communities and Languages,[5] the European Parliament Intergroup on LGBT Rights,[6] the European Parliament Intergroup on Seas, Rivers, Islands and Coastal Areas,[7] and of the Responsible Business Conduct Working Group.[8]

On 4 February 2021 Burkhart took on a godparenthood for Katsyaryna Andreeva, Belarusian journalist and political prisoner.[9]
