The Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay Training Facilities (Turkish: Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay Tesisleri) are the official training grounds of Galatasaray S.K., located in the Kemerburgaz district of Eyüpsultan, Istanbul, Turkey. The complex serves as the club's primary training centre for the senior football team as well as for its youth academy teams.[1]

History

[edit]

The construction of the facilities began after Galatasaray sold its historic Florya Metin Oktay Facilities, which had served the club since 1981. The sale was part of a redevelopment project in the Florya and Riva districts.

The club acquired the Kemerburgaz land in 2017, finalizing its title deed in 2022. Groundbreaking took place on 19 May 2023, with club president Dursun Özbek, board members, technical staff, and former players and managers in attendance. The first phase of the facility, which includes the senior team buildings and pitches, was inaugurated in early 2025.

Facilities

[edit]

The complex covers an area of approximately 130,000 square metres (1,400,000 sq ft) and is situated about 10 minutes from Rams Park and 20 minutes from Istanbul Airport.

Pitches

[edit]

The facilities include:

  • Four full-size football pitches:
    • Three natural grass pitches (two with underground heating)
    • One artificial turf pitch
  • One natural pitch equipped with spectator stands.

Buildings

[edit]

The main building complex features:

  • 33 rooms for players and 16 rooms for technical staff
  • Fitness and conditioning centre
  • Hot and cold pools
  • Sauna and Turkish bath (hamam)
  • Medical and physiotherapy units
  • Dining hall and professional kitchens
  • Recreation areas including billiards and game rooms
  • Technical and tactical analysis rooms
  • Offices for coaching staff and club management.

Youth Academy Expansion

[edit]

A second development phase is planned to include a 4,500 m² building dedicated to the youth academy, as well as additional pitches and facilities for the club's youth teams.

Investment

[edit]

The estimated total cost of the project is between ₺650 million and ₺700 million. Part of the construction, including two of the pitches, was sponsored by the 1905 Galatasaray Manager and Businesspeople Foundation (1905 GSYİAD), an association of Galatasaray-affiliated businesspeople.

Transition from Florya

[edit]

The opening of the Kemerburgaz facilities marks the end of operations at the historic Florya Metin Oktay Facilities, which were used by the club since 1981. Full transition of both the senior team and youth academy to Kemerburgaz is expected by the end of 2025.
