Legends League Cricket is a Twenty20 cricket league featuring retired cricket players. Legends League Cricket Masters has been played in Oman and Qatar, and the franchise Legends League Cricket T20 league has been played in India.

Background

Owned by Absolute Legends Sports Pvt Ltd, Legends League Cricket was founded by Raman Raheja and Vivek Khushalani.[1][2] In November 2021, Ravi Shastri was appointed as the league's commissioner following his retirement as the head coach of the India national cricket team.[3][4]

Masters tournament

The 2022 masters season was played in January 2022 at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Muscat. It featured three teams: India Maharajas; Asia Lions; and World Giants.[5][6] World Giants won the final against Asia Lions.

The second season was held at Doha in March 2023. Asia Lions defeated World Giants in the final.[7]

Franchise tournament

The first season of the franchise tournament was held from 17 September to 5 October 2022, and featured four privately owned teams. A special match was also held at Eden Gardens in Kolkata between Indian Maharajas and World Giants before the start of the league,[8] and a total of 15 matches were played. India Capitals emerged victorious, beating Bhilwara Kings by 104 runs in the final at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.[9]

The second season of the tournament was held between 18 November and 9 December 2023. Two new teams joined the league.[10][11]
