Saurania

Town of ancient Pontus

Saurania (Ancient Greek: Σαυρανία), or Sauronisena,^[1] or Saunaria (Σαυναρία),^[2] was a town of ancient Pontus, inhabited during Roman and Byzantine times.^[3] It was in the later province of Pontus Polemoniacus, and mentioned by Ptolemy.^[2]

Its site is tentatively located near Gölköy in Asiatic Turkey.^[3]^[4]
