Seydou Fini (born 2 June 2006) is an Italian professional footballer who plays as a right winger or an attacking midfielder for Belgian club Standard Liège on loan from Serie A club Genoa.

Club career

Fini first entered the youth sector of Genoa in 2013,[1][2] and subsequently came through the club's ranks:[3] in July 2022, he signed his first professional contract with Genoa and started training with the first team, shortly after joining the under-19 squad on a stable basis.[2][3] During the 2022–23 season, he helped the same formation gain automatic promotion back to the Campionato Primavera 1.[4][5][6]

At the start of the 2023–24 season, Fini was promoted to Genoa's first team by manager Alberto Gilardino.[7] On 22 October 2023, he made his professional debut for the club, coming on as a substitute for Stefano Sabelli in the 87th minute of a 2–0 league defeat to Atalanta:[8][9] in the process, he became the second 2006-born player to make his Serie A debut, only after Simone Pafundi.[2][9]

On 1 February 2024, Fini was loaned to Belgian Pro League club Standard Liège until the end of the 2023–24 season.[10]

International career

Born in Italy, Fini is of Ivorian descent.[11] He has represented Italy at various youth international levels, having played for the under-17 and under-18 national teams.[2][12][13]

In May 2023, he was included in the Italian squad that took part in the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in Hungary,[14][15] where the Azzurrini got eliminated in the group stage.[6][12]

Style of play

Fini mainly plays either as a right winger[2][7] or an attacking midfielder,[6] although he can also cover the centre-forward role.[2][3] He has been regarded for his strength, his shooting power and his dribbling skills.[2][6]
