Shamli Gorakhpur Expressway

Road in Uttar Pradesh, India

The Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway, a planned six-lane Greenfield corridor spanning 700 km, is set to traverse 22 districts and 37 tehsils in Uttar Pradesh. It offers a more direct route to Gorakhpur, cutting the current distance by approximately 200 km compared to the Agra-Lucknow Expressway through Delhi.

The Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway is poised to become Uttar Pradesh's lengthiest expressway and the state's third-largest Greenfield corridor. It will traverse the India-Nepal border and distinguish itself with the addition of an airstrip for emergency jet landings, enhancing regional security. Notably, the upcoming Ganga Expressway, spanning 594 km, is planned to intersect the Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway, bringing benefits to rural areas and cities along the Ganga in Uttar Pradesh.[1]
