The Testament of Ann Lee is an upcoming historical drama musical film co-written and directed by Mona Fastvold. It stars Amanda Seyfried as Ann Lee, the founding leader of the Shakers religious sect in the 18th century. It also stars Thomasin McKenzie, Lewis Pullman, Stacy Martin, Tim Blake Nelson, Christopher Abbott, and Matthew Beard.
The film will have its world premiere in the main competition of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival on 1 September 2025, where it was nominated for the Golden Lion.

Production
[edit]Originally titled The Woman Clothed by the Sun, the film was shot on 70mm film on location in Budapest.[1][2] Filming wrapped in December 2024.[3][4]
Release
[edit]The film will premiere in the main competition of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival on 1 September 2025.[5][6][7] It will also be screened at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival on 9 September 2025.[8][9][10]
