Persepuluhan

Persepuluhan atau perpuluhan adalah kegiatan memberikan 10% dari penghasilan kepada tempat ibadah.^[1] Sekarang persepuluhan biasanya dilakukan dengan sukarela dan dibayar dengan uang, cek, atau saham. Dulunya persepuluhan dibayar dalam bentuk produk pertanian atau sejenisnya. Yahudi Ortodoks umumnya melaksanakan ma'aser kesafim (memberikan 10% dari pendapatan mereka untuk amal). Di Israel modern, orang-orang Yahudi masih tetap mengikuti hukum persepuluhan pertanian, seperti ma'aser rishon, terumat ma'aser, dan ma'aser sheni, tetapi tidak melaksanakan persepuluhan hewan karena tidak ada Bait Allah yang berdiri^[2].
