Bandicota ialah genus rodensia dari Asia yang dikenali sebagai wiruk. Nama umum dan nama genusnya terbit daripada perkataan Telugu pandikokku (పందికొక్కు). Kajian DNA mendapati kumpulan ini klad monofiletik yang bersaudara dengan penyebaran spesies Rattus di Maluku dan Australia sebagai sebahagian daripada Rattus sensu lato yang parafiletik.[2]
