Grimpoteuthis ialah sebuah genus sotong kurita dalam zon pelagik yang juga dikenali sebagai sotong kurita Dumbo.^[1] Nama panggilan tersebut diperoleh disebabkan oleh keserupaan haiwan ini dengan watak dalam filem Disney, Dumbo dari tahun 1941. Setakat ini, terdapat 13 spesies yang tertakluk di bawah genus ini.^[2]

Jangka hayat spesies-spesies genus ini ialah lazimnya tiga hingga lima tahun. Sotong-sotong kurita ini hidup di kedalaman dari 3,000 ke 4,000 meter dan ada yang menjangkau sehingga kedalaman 7,000 meter dan oleh itu, ini ialah habitat terdalam bagi kalangan spesies sotong kurita.^[3]
