Joan Royle is een mooi, naïef meisje uit de sloppen. Ze wordt verliefd op de orkestleider Fred Ketlar. Wanneer diens vrouw Adele wordt vermoord, wordt Fred gearresteerd en veroordeeld wegens moord. Joan gelooft dat de crimineel Baretta de echte dader is.
