BSD-lisensen

BSD-lisensen er en programvarelisens som UNIX-avarten Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD) blir distribuert under. Eierne av den originale BSD-distribusjonen var «Regents of the University of California», siden BSD opprinnelig kom fra University of California, Berkeley.

Tilpassede versjoner av lisensen blir ofte brukt av andre organisasjoner og utviklere. Selve lisensteksten blir regnet for å være offentlig eiendom (engelsk public domain), og kan derfor fritt tilpasses for eget bruk.

Arbeid basert på BSD-lisensiert programvare kan også gis ut som proprietær programvare, i motsetning til lisenser som GPL.
