Naomi Oreskes er professor i historie- og vitenskapsstudier ved University of California San Diego og forfatter. Hun har arbeidet på studier om geofysikk, klimaspørsmål som global oppvarming og vitenskapshistorie.

Bakgrunn

Oreskes ble uteksaminert fra Stuyvesant High School i 1976. Hun mottok sin BSc-grad i gruvegeologi fra Royal School of Mines ved Imperial College, University of London i 1981 og arbeidet som Research Assistant ved geologiinstituttet og som Teaching Assistant i geologi, filosofi og anvendt geovitenskap ved Stanford University fra 1984. Hun mottok PhD-graden ved Graduate Special Program i geologisk forskning og vitenskapshistorie ved Stanford i 1990. I 1994 mottok hun National Science Foundations Young Investigator Award i 1994.

Hun har arbeidet for United States Environmental Protection Agency og U.S National Academy of Sciences og har undervist ved Dartmouth, Harvard og New York University (NYU). Hun er medlem av 'History of Science Society. Hun er forfatter og har bidradd til en rekke essay og tekniske rapporter i økonomisk geologi og vitenskapshistorie^[12] i tillegg til tre bøker:
