John Arthur Lithgow (IPA: [ˈʤɔn ˈlɪθɡaʊ]) (19.10. 1945.) je američki glumac najpoznatiji po glavnoj ulozi Dicka Solomona u NBC-jevom sitcomu 3rd Rock from the Sun. Također je igrao brojne uloge na pozornici, filmu i radiju. Osvojio je nekoliko nagrada Emmy i Tony, kao i dvije nominacije za Oscara. Snimio je nekoliko muzičkih albuma za djecu. Ima diplomu s Harvarda. Imao je i zapažen nastup u TV-seriji Dexter gdje je tumačio lik Arthura Mitchella.
Biografija
Lithgow se rodio u Rochesteru u državi New York, kao dijete umirovljene glumice Sarah Jane (Price) i Arthura Lithgowa, kazališnog producenta i režisera koji je vodio McCarter Theatre u Princetonu. Lithgow se zbog očevog posla često selio zajedno s porodicom.
Lithgow je dobio stipendiju za Harvard, gdje je boravio u istom studentskom domu s budućim potpredsjednikom Alom Goreom i glumcem Tommyjem Lee Jonesom. Lithgow je zahvaljujući hardvardskoj predstavi Gilbert i Sullivanove Utopia Limited odlučio postati profesionalni glumac.[1] Na Harvardu je diplomirao 1967.
Lithgow je od 1966. do 1980. bio oženjen za Jean Taynton s kojom ima sina Iana (1972). Od 1981. je u braku s Mary Yeager, s kojom ima kći Phoebe MacCurtain (1983) i sina Nathana Georgea (1983).
