Kid Auto Races at Venice

Kid Auto Races at Venice je američka kratka crno-bijela nijema filmska komedija snimljena 1914. u režiji Henryja Lehrmana, najpoznatija kao prvi film u kome je Charles Chaplin imao glavnu ulogu, odnosno tumačio lik Charlota (Skitnice). Snimljen je na omladinskoj (juniorskoj) verziji automobilskog go-kart natjecanja Vanderbilt Cup u losanđeleskoj četvrti Venice, tokom koga su Chaplin i ekipa improvizirali gegove pred publikom. Za film je karakteristično i to da je jedan od prvih koji je razbio tzv. četvrti zid, odnosno nastojao omogućiti tvorcima i likovima da se neposredno obrate gledateljima i razbiju iluziju o fikciji; to je postignuto kadrovima koji prikazuju kako filmska ekipa snima Chaplina. Kid se zbog toga smatra i jednim od prvih filmova koji prikazuju snimanje filmova, odnosno jednim od prvih "meta-filmova". Lik Charlota je Chaplin bio osmislio za film Mabel's Strange Predicament koji je snimljen nekoliko dana ranije, ali koji je distribuiran dva dana kasnije iza Kida. Zbog toga se Kid smatra prvim "Charlotovim" filmom.
