The Birthday Party (drama)

The Birthday Party (sh. Rođendanska zabava) je drama britanskog pisca Harolda Pintera napisana 1957. godine, i premijerno izvedena u Cambridgeu 28. aprila 1958. godine. Protagonist je sredovječni pijanist koji živi kao podstanar u provincijskom gradiću, te koga dolaze posjetiti dva poznanika iz njegove misteriozne i mračne prošlosti, te mu tokom improvizirane rođendanske zabave život pretvore u pakao. Komad, koji je sadržavao niz apsurdnih situacija i crnog humora je kasnije od kritičara proglašen primjerom stila poznatog kao "komedija prijetnje". Pinteru je to bio drugi komad u karijeri, a nakon premijere je postigao izuzetan uspjeh, te ga je učinio jednim od najpoznatijih dramskih pisaca svog doba.

Godine 1968. je u režiji Williama Friedkina snimljen istoimeni igrani film, a 1973. je TV Sarajevo emitirala TV-dramu Rođendan temeljenu po Pinterovom tekstu.
