Sjedinjene DržaveThe World Moves On (sh. Svijet ide dalje) je američki crno-bijeli film snimljen 1934. u režiji Johna Forda. Po žanru je melodrama, ali po uzoru na Cavalcade koji je prethodne godine studiju Fox donio Oscara ima epski karakter. Radnja prati nekoliko generacija dviju porodica iz Louisiane koji 1825. godine sklapaju bračni savez i stiču veliko bogatstvo s obje strane Atlantike, prije nego što ih prvi svjetski rat razmjesti na suprotne strane, a od bezobzirne pohlepe "izliječi" burzovni slom 1929. godine. The World, u kome su scene rovovskih borbi na Zapadnom frontu "posuđene" iz francuskog filma Les Croix de bois snimljenog dvije godine ranije. Kao i taj film, i The World je imao eksplicitno pacifistički karakter, a završni segment se sastoji od dokumentarnih snimki iz suvremenog doba vezanih uz ponovno naoružavanje tadašnjih velikih sila, odnosno predstavlja poziv gledateljima da pokušaju spriječiti izbijanje novog svjetskog sukoba. The World Moves On je bio prikazan na 2. venecijanskoj Mostri gdje je nagrađen počasnom diplomom. Za historiju Hollywooda je važan i po tome što je bio prvi film koji je proslijeđen cenzorskom odboru u skladu s novim strogim Produkcijskim kodeksom, odnosno prvi koji je odobren te nosi certifikat #1.
Ubrzo nakon snimanja je, međutim, pao u zaborav, pa se danas čak ni ne spominje u nekim Fordovim filmografijama. Vjeruje se da je jedan od razloga za to nastup američkog crnog glumca Stepina Fetchita, odnosno scene u kojima je njegov lik prikazan u skladu s tadašnjim rasističkim stereotipima.
