Hydroides elegans[1][10][11][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26] är en ringmaskart som först beskrevs av William Aitcheson Haswell 1883. I den svenska databasen Dyntaxa[8] används istället namnet Protohydroides elegans. Enligt Catalogue of Life[27][28] ingår Hydroides elegans i släktet Hydroides och familjen Serpulidae, men enligt Dyntaxa[8] är tillhörigheten istället släktet Protohydroides och familjen Serpulidae. Arten har ej påträffats i Sverige.[8] Inga underarter finns listade i Catalogue of Life.[27]
