Unicaf (/ˈjnɪkæf/) is a for-profit [1] online and blended learning higher education platform founded by Nicos Nicolaou in 2012. The platform partners with universities, mostly in the UK, to provide university degrees to its students.

History

Unicaf was founded by Nicos Nicolaou in 2012 and its headquarters is located in Europe.[2] While initially focusing solely on Africa, it has been expanding its range to offer scholarships to students worldwide, provided they meet certain academic and financial criteria, as well as country of residence.[3] Unicaf has established branch campuses and learning centres in many African Continent nations , such as in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Egypt, Morocco, South Africa, Zambia, DRC and Malawi. Since its inception, Unicaf has enrolled more than 60,000 students in one of Unicaf's partnership programs.[4] Unicaf has set up learning centres, which include digital libraries, computer labs, internet access and generators to help students access their platform.[5]

Programs offered

Currently, Unicaf offers a number of Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate programs in various fields such as business, computing, education, mass communication, health, psychology and law. [6]

Unicaf University

Unicaf University has a physical presence in 12 African countries and a number of branch campuses in places like Malawi, Uganda and Zambia[7][8] to accommodate students from Africa and elsewhere. Unicaf University is accredited by each of the respective regulators and by the British Accreditation Council in the UK (BAC).[9] The campuses aim to provide student services and face-to-face tutorials to support the online and blended delivery models. The Unicaf Scholarship Programme is available to all Unicaf University[7] students interested to study towards one of the Bachelor's, Master’s or Doctorate degree programmes offered. According to Dr Kevin Andrews, Vice-Chancellor, [7]Unicaf University is currently in the process of opening additional campuses in several locations in Africa.
